In fifth grade, I was hospitalized and bed ridden because of severe pain in my hip. Over a four week span, I upgraded to a wheelchair then to crutches. The pain eventually went away, but I found out eight years later that the problem was still there.
Steroids and pain killers became a continuous part of my college life because of the hip pain. It got so bad, I stopped all activity and gained 50 pounds. Needless to say, this was not a happy time.
My Dad is a medical doctor and although we were not pill poppers growing up, I certainly was making up for it in college. My Dad sent me to the best hip specialist in Connecticut. Test after test revealed no medical diagnosis, just more steroids and pain killers, 16 pills per day. My face ballooned, my immune system was shot, and I even received a hairline fracture in my shin from no apparent trauma. All three of which I have learned are common side effects to steroids.
Obviously frustrated, I turned to a friend who urged me to go to his chiropractor and what I heard made sense. I did not have a medical condition that drugs or surgery could cure. I had a mechanical imbalance which kept inflaming my hip. Steroids and pain killers helped my inflammation but could not stop it from coming back. WOW! What a vicious cycle.
Needless to say, my results were so successful with chiropractic that I chose it as my career. I now can run faster and longer than ever before, my tennis game is on track and I recently ran the Chicago marathon. I would not be where I am today, physically, if I had stuck to drugs.
Years ago chiropractic saved me, and now I do my best to help others with the same problem, as well as headaches, neck pain, backaches, shoulder pain, whiplash and numbness, just to name a few.
If you have pain, are stuck popping pills, or just plain frustrated like I was, call me and let me show you how chiropractic can help.
